About Us

The Midwest Food Products Association, Inc. is a trade association that advocates on behalf of food processing companies and affiliated industries in Illinois, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. Established in 1905 as the Wisconsin Canners Association, today the association represents a more diverse group of food processors on a variety of food issues. The primary role of MWFPA is to influence public policy and make the Midwest a great place for food processors to do business. The association’s activities can be summarized in four words; advocate, educate, communicate, and facilitate. Go to Association Profile for more information.

The Value of Membership

The Midwest Food Products Association is your advocate, monitoring and analyzing key legislation and regulations and effectively representing our interests. We are your eyes and ears in the Capitol and your go-to resource for a wide range of issues.

As a member of MWFPA, you will have opportunities to meet with your peers who are working for some of the finest food companies in the world. The exchange of ideas and information among our members is one of the valuable benefits of participation in this association.

Government Relations

MWFPA represents the industry before the Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin legislatures and serves as liaison between the industry and state and federal administrative agencies on environmental matters, business practices, safety concerns, transportation, and other issues.

Education Programs

Through advisory committees, MWFPA supports continuing industry education by sponsoring issue-specific seminars, workshops and conferences and provides scholarships in food science and agriculture through the University of Wisconsin.

Safety Program

A safety contest, based on OSHA data in Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin food processing plants, is conducted by MWFPA with monthly reports of incident rates for participating plants. The plants with the best safety records receive recognition at the MWFPA annual convention in December annually.

Convention & Trade Show

MWFPA hosts an annual 2-day convention in December where experts in the food industry conduct presentations/seminars, and representatives from allied industries share solutions, ideas and new innovations to improve members’ competitiveness.
