WI Gov. Evers Sets Election Date For U.S. Rep. Sean Duffy’s Seat

WI Gov. Evers has scheduled a special election for January 27 to fill outgoing Republican Rep. Sean Duffy’s northern Wisconsin seat in Congress.

Meanwhile, a primary — if required — would take place on Dec. 30.

The winner of the special election will serve through the end of 2020 and have to run again in the November 2020 election if he or she wishes to serve a full two-year term.

The announcement came the same day as Duffy’s official resignation from the 7th Congressional District.  The district covers all or part of 20 central, northern and northwestern Wisconsin counties and is the state’s largest congressional district geographically.
